The 1974 260Z replaced the 240Z with a stroked 2.6-liter L26 inline-six engine and introduced a 2+2 hatchback body style alongside the two-seat coupe. U.S. models gained larger federally mandated 5-mph bumpers and additional emissions equipment, which reduced net horsepower output. Common service considerations include rust repair in the floor pans and hatch area, timing chain guide wear, carburetor maintenance, and aging rubber seals and electrical connections.
