The 2007 Nissan Altima introduced the fourth generation of the model, featuring a redesigned body, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, and an available 3.5-liter V6 paired with a continuously variable transmission. Routine service items include CVT fluid changes, spark plug replacement around 105,000 miles, and regular oil changes, as some four-cylinder engines have been known to consume oil. The V6 uses a timing chain rather than a belt, which reduces scheduled maintenance. In the United States, Nissan extended the CVT warranty on certain 2007–2012 Altimas to 10 years or 120,000 miles following reliability concerns.
