The 2001 Nissan Frontier continued on the D22 platform with minor updates, including a revised grille, and offered 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 3.3-liter V6 engines in King Cab and Crew Cab configurations, with a supercharged V6 available on select trims. Common service considerations include timing belt replacement on both engines, inspection for frame and body rust, and monitoring of rear axle bearings and suspension components such as ball joints. The automatic transmission in some examples has been known to develop wear, so fluid condition and shifting behavior are worth checking.
