The 2008 Nissan Frontier continued the D40 generation with the 4.0-liter V6 (261 hp) and an available 2.5-liter four-cylinder, with minor trim and equipment revisions for the model year. Common service considerations include monitoring the radiator for plastic end-tank cracks, which can cause coolant leaks and overheating. The V6's timing chain system should be inspected for tensioner wear, and regular transmission and rear differential fluid changes are recommended. Periodic transfer case fluid service is also advised for four-wheel-drive models.
