The 2002 Nissan Pathfinder was largely a carryover from the refreshed 2001 model, retaining the 3.3-liter VG33E V6 engine, four-speed automatic transmission, and available four-wheel drive. Common service considerations include timing belt replacement at the recommended interval, since the VG33E is an interference engine. The automatic transmission and radiator plastic tanks are known wear items, and frame and underbody rust is worth inspecting, especially in regions that use road salt.
