Honda Motor Co., Ltd. was founded in 1948 by Soichiro Honda in Hamamatsu, Japan, and began as a motorcycle manufacturer before entering automobile production in 1963. The company became the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer by 1964 and has maintained that position for decades. Notable technologies include the CVCC engine of the 1970s, which met emissions regulations without a catalytic converter, and the VTEC variable valve timing system introduced in 1989. Honda also has a long history in motorsport, including Formula 1 participation as both an engine supplier and chassis constructor, and its vehicles are frequently ranked highly in reliability surveys.

  The Honda Accord is a midsize sedan positioned above the compact Civic in Honda's passenger car lineup, and it was originally introduced in 1976 as a compact hatchback. Notable generations include the third generation (1986) with its flip-up headlights, the larger eighth generation (2008–2012), and the eleventh generation launched in 2023, which offers a turbocharged engine or a hybrid powertrain. The Accord is generally regarded for its reliability, fuel efficiency, and strong resale value. Coupe body styles were offered until the ninth generation ended production in 2017.

  The Honda Legend has served as the company's flagship sedan since its introduction in 1985, positioned above models like the Accord in size and equipment. The nameplate spanned six generations through 2021, with early versions sold as the Acura Legend in North America and later generations marketed there as the Acura RL and RLX. The Legend was typically recognized for smooth V6 engines, a quiet and comfortable ride, and early adoption of technologies such as all-wheel steering and hybrid all-wheel-drive systems. Production ended in 2021 without a direct successor.
