The 1999 Nissan Sentra received a mid-cycle facelift with revised front and rear styling, and the GA16DE 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine continued in base and GXE trims. The GA16DE is an interference engine, so timing belt replacement at the recommended interval is important to prevent engine damage if the belt fails. Higher-mileage examples may develop oil consumption, and routine items such as spark plugs, coolant, and transmission fluid should be checked against the factory maintenance schedule.
