The 2004 Nissan Sentra continued the fifth-generation design with only minor equipment and trim changes for the model year. Engine options included a 1.8-liter four-cylinder in base models and a 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the SE-R and SE-R Spec V trims. Common service items include ignition coil and spark plug replacement, oxygen sensor failures, and monitoring for oil consumption in the 2.5-liter engine. The 1.8-liter engine uses a timing chain rather than a belt, and periodic automatic transmission fluid changes are recommended.
