The 2007 Sentra was redesigned on a new platform, growing in size and adopting a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 140 horsepower, paired with either a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission. The SE-R and SE-R Spec V trims offered higher-output versions of the same engine. The CVT requires periodic fluid changes with Nissan-specified fluid, and some units have experienced transmission failures addressed under extended service agreements. The timing chain design eliminates the need for timing belt replacement, though spark plugs and ignition coils remain routine service items.
