The 2008 Nissan Sentra, part of the sixth generation introduced for 2007, carried over with minor updates including standard side curtain airbags and continued availability of the SE-R and SE-R Spec V trims with a 2.5-liter engine. Most trims used a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with either a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Common service considerations include regular CVT fluid changes and monitoring for transmission wear, as these units have been known to fail prematurely. The 2.0-liter engine uses a timing chain rather than a belt, and routine maintenance such as spark plug and ignition coil replacement is typical at higher mileage.
